I mean seriously — I feel like we throw out fruits and/or veggies all the time! We always make a point to by fresh produce at the store, but we always end up throwing some out.
It’s not that we don’t like fruits and veggies… we just tend to forget about some of them, we are too lazy to cut them, and other things (typically not so healthy) are more convenient.
As I was typing this, I started to think… Why do I eat them at my moms house and at parties?
… because they are already cut up and ready to go!
My mom always has melon, strawberries, cucumbers, etc. right there, prepped, and ready to eat!
Sooooo, for next week, we have decided that we’re cutting up our fruits and veggies and placing them in the front of the fridge! (Even if they don’t need to be cut, I find that I forget about them when they’re just thrown in the hydrator drawers - out of site, out of mind!)
Another thing I'm going to work on is freezing produce before it goes bad! I've done this in the past, but not so much lately... when you realize you're not going to finish something before it goes bad -- freeze it!
frozen berries and bananas = great for smoothies
frozen peppers and tomatoes = great for sloppy joes, chilli, spaghetti sauce, etc.
If you have any other tips to share — send ‘em my way!!
Here’s to intentional living! Have a good weekend!
