In the past, I've scrolled passed this saying, and maybe even scoffed at it a bit. However, today, I came across it, and read it several times, until it really sunk-in...
People that are thankful, are the people who are truly happy (not the other way around).
I am grateful that I am in a place, in my life, that I can really grasp this truth. After years of being "unhappy" and clouded by depression, doubt, and negativity, I can genuinely say that I am living proof of this. Rather than continuing to focus on all the things I didn't/ don't have, and the things going wrong, in my life (which was the norm) - I am now able to shift my focus to all the things I do have, and approach life with a positive outlook and grateful heart. I make a conscious effort to be thankful for specific things, as well as everything, each day, and there is no doubt in my mind that it has directly impacted my happiness! It certainly hasn't happened overnight - it has actually taken a lot of effort, persistence, and perseverance, but I am the happiest I have been, for as long as I can remember. Dare I say, I even consider myself to be a "happy" person (never thought I would say that, but I sure am glad I can)! That said, don't think I am in my own fairytale, la la land... I still have plenty of days where I struggle, but I strive to remain thankful (even for the difficult times and hardships), and as a result, I have am able to live a life of happiness, which I attribute to God and his many blessings.
There is ALWAYS SOMETHING TO BE THANKFUL FOR!
MY CHALLENGE TO YOU - comment below, and share at least ONE THING that you're thankful for!
Push yourself out of your comfort zone, and watch as others do the same! Why not?!
